![]() ![]() The Xbox One has advantages aswell (i'll repeat some things mentioned in the article too). The author did a great job of pointing out these advantages of the PS4 but then at the same time, didn't mention, downplayed, or was just flat out wrong about Xbox One DVR features. Sharing screenshots and starting a recording are easier on PS4 (just hold the share button or double-tap the share button respectively without having to leave the game play), broadcasting to Twitch is present at launch, and having 15 minutes of continuous recording is better than being limited to 5 minutes. The article does a piss poor job explaining the X1 feature, so I imagine it doesn't do much better explaining the PS4 feature.Įither the author of this article doesn't have all the facts about Xbox One Game DVR functionality or he is just biased.įirstly, I agree with a number of the PS4 advantages. ![]() Being able to call the DVR by voice, and choose between 1/3/5 minutes is perfect for my uses.īut then, I haven't tried both, so maybe I'm missing something. Uploading to youtube from ingame seems like a recipe for having a lot of crappy extended footage going to the web.īoth ways seem good, and I have yet to try the PS4 capture feature, but I find it hard to imagine that it's more functional than the XB1 version, beyond the ability to capture bigger chunks and immediately put them to the web. Who want's to watch 15 minutes of gameplay? When I game, it's the highlights that I'm after, which necessitates using the upload studio to tailor the footage. But 15 minutes is a lot of gametime, I would think most people would want to trim that down and pick their spots. I assume that you have the "end clip now" option on PS4 as well, which then grabs the last 15 minutes, which you can then upload to youtube from in game. Any longer and I would get frustrated wading through massive clips to find the moment that I was after. 5 minutes is always more than enough to get the footage that may have been too long for the 30 second "Xbox, record that". No hassle, no need to exit your session, it takes all of 20 seconds to do. ![]() Then it's as easy as saying "end clip now" and selecting "5 minutes". After a good few minutes of annihilation, I often find myself saying "Xbox, snap game DVR". ![]()
